Masquerade Photo's

How fun is the pictures during Halloween?!!  I love all the fun things we get to make, pretend, and explore during Halloween!  This is the time of year I hear the most “take a picture of me” coming from the kids.  The dress-up bins are always out and imaginations are flying freely.  So, to help the kids have a blast and increase the fun photo’s we decided to make masquerade masks for pictures!

Step 2 Kitchen Giveaway

Boy or Girl all kids want to be in the kitchen either to eat or help cook.  Most will love the chance to pretend to cook while you cook and I would imagine you would get a huge smile with this under the tree (or next to it)!  Dress up clothes, super hero capes, and simple pots and pans can all be fun toys through the imaginative eyes of a child. When you add those elements to a super fun play space, you could soon find your child occupied for hours.

Halloween Masks!

Halloween is the perfect time of year for us to explore the scary, gross, beautiful, or just plain alternative side of ourselves.  Our kids get to dress up and pretend they can conquer the world!  Why not have a masquerade party this year for the kids!  Let them dress up!  Let them eat silly foods that resemble gross things!  Let them make their own masks to wear!

Tied up Tool!

How do you teach your kid to tie their shoes?  This can be tricky, it is easy for them to get frustrated and discouraged when tying their own shoes.  So, we moms have to get creative.  We have to make it into something they created and then a sort of game!  Kids love creating things and exploring that side of their brains.  That makes these special “shoes” even more ideal for learning this skill!

Sugar and Spice, You Add the Nice!

The last spicy tid-bit that I threw in the sexy bag was the most obvious.  It was there in the request the whole time!  Spices!  What else can spice up life than some good spices right!  So, letting my taste buds lead me, and inspiration stemming from an NCIS rerun reference to something called Honey Dust.  I put together my own naughty night taster kit.

Garter Fun!

The second piece of sexy that I decided to create stemmed off of the duster which reminded me of a sexy maid costume.   I pulled out the movie “Clue” for inspiration. Whatever her name was came on screen and I realized that every sexy anything you see, maid, lingerie, etc, have a garter!  Let me see, I have scraps of fabric, bows, elastic, and thread in my craft supplies!  Oh, joy I can do this too! 

Now, I hate sewing so this was not my favorite to make, but it turned out super cute!

Dusting out the cob webs?!!!!!

It’s Valentine season and the invitation says that bringing something to spice up the wedding night can result in a prize?  Umm, huh, I’m on a budget and don’t know this persons size!!!  Not to mention, and it could be me, but I don’t really feel comfortable taking the kids into a Fredrick’s or something to search for a gift.  So, I cleaned, because it makes me think.  I sat their dusting and it hit me!  Why not put together a little something myself?  I went into the craft draw and then had to go back to cleaning.  I make kids crafts!  What in the world could I make that is cool, functional, and only slightly cheesy given the sexy little theme? 

Last, but not least...Maraca's!!

Add a little flare with this working instrument!  All kids love noise so making a few working maraca’s will definitely please your crowd!  It is almost as good as a cow bell! Kids love making noise and this will allow them to create how they make that noise!

Guitar Hero! Essential to the band!

Video games are so popular that they are fast replacing board games.  You don’t see kids as often sitting down for a great game of chess or life.  Now, you see them sitting in front of the TV to play a game that involves trying to kill each other in a brutal way.  A lovely switch don’t you think?  Why not get inspired by the games out their now and come up with a way to bring out the kids natural creativity and imagination!?

Window Shopping on the Web

Do you ever think to yourself, "If I only had the money?"  I love finding deals and tend to shop consignment for the kids because the grow so fast and get so dirty during the day, but there are days I find it hard not to wish that I had the money to get a designer dud or two for the kiddo's.  The problem with "window" shopping the designer dud's is that there are so many childrens fashions now that we can literally find any style put into mini-form.  Today, my "wish" shopping was centered around two designers I stumbled across online at the Ladida website.

Starting a Rock Band! Music Box!

The kids are all hyper from the holiday spread we just had and need something to busy their minds and hands.  To help resolve this issue let’s make some crafts that can be re-used time and time again, plus save a dollar or two on the expensive versions at the store.  Let’s help the kids create a rock band!

We will start by making our music box!  After all, if we don’t have a place to put our instruments they will probably end up on the floor! So, time to gather our supplies!

Blue Jean Cape!

I went through my clothes and noticed a lot of pants with holes in them.  I don't go shopping often and it seems that I tend to wear my clothes until they literally fall apart.  Now, I can either walk around like I belong in a trailer park with my goods hanging out or I can get creative and make something for the kids to play!  I decide to say good bye to the jeans and hello to the latest kids creation!

Goblets of Goodies!

Days are still cold and the fun of the snow has faded at times making for some cooped up kids!  I say go with the lazy flow and have a movie marathon!  Why not make it a Harry Potter marathon?  There are plenty of movies to fill the day with that series.  Have the kids grab their pillows and blankets, make some coco or pass out the sippies and have everyone just lounge around on the couches and floor while watching you’re movies!  To get into the feel let’s make a cool popcorn holder for the kids!

Well, Hello, Pilgrim!

Thanksgiving time is here and there are lessons to be learned!  Chances are your kids know about the Turkey, football, and all the family gathering round to eat way too much food, but do they know why you’re having all that?  Why not have them do a fun craft and talk about it!  The best part is this craft can either be a decoration, snack holder, or dress up hat!

This year why not give the kids something to pretend to make their own meal on! You can either go shopping and spend a few hundred dollars on a kitchen set or visit back over the next week as we make our own kitchen with a kid flare!
