After our long hike the night before we decided to head back to Beatty's early in the morning to see if we could spot the White-Eared Hummingbird again! This time we parked at the right spot. We sat down on the bleachers and our first visitor of the day was an Anna's Hummingbird.
He was interestingly colored with the spots up and down his belly.
He was soon joined by a very darkly colored Magnificent Hummingbird.
Who took a very long drink;
still drinking the nectar.
Finally, our bossy White-Eared Hummingbird showed up!
He gave us a great view of his white eye strip while he drank.
He then went back to what seems to be his favorite tree on the left of the bleachers.
He groomed himself getting ready for his day.
Going for a second sip of nectar he was ready for his daily activities.
Which include bossing other hummingbirds around and, of course,
drinking his nectar.
We said goodbye to our white eared friend and practically skipped to the car to head to the next sight. The White-Eared Hummingbird was so awesome to see!
