I've been hearing about people getting into using water infused with fruits and I wanted to know what the fuss was all about. So, I looked it up to see just what the benefits are of drinking infused water. I have to say it would seem that their may actually be something to it.
First, we are made largely of water and logic dictates that keeping up our intake of water is beneficial to keeping most of our body functioning. Now, I've heard of people who say they don't like the taste of water, which if you live in AZ where the water is more mineral than H2O that is understandable. Adding some flavor to your water is a great way for you to bridge the water taste gap.
The other benefits to drinking fruit infused water is texture, you can add the flavor of the fruit you love and avoid the texture that you may not be fond of. Plus, you can re-use the same fruit more than one bottle full taking the most vitamins and flavor out of them possible, without the sugar or calories that lay inside the pulp of the fruit itself.
I first had to figure out how to work my new FlavFusion Infusion Water-bottle. It was actually fairly simple. First, remove the lid. The infuser is attached to the drinking portion of the lid and screws off. Then open the infuser by screwing that off as well. Insert fruit, screw it all together and add water. Do not fill up all the way, about 3/4 would be good as the fruit and infuser will displace the water. Put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes to allow the water to soak up the strawberries.
Now, drink away, or I would have except my son who loves the taste of fruit, but not actually eating them wanted a taste and then confiscated this for the rest of the day! I think it is the most strawberries that I've been able to get into this kid and they were all drank not eaten!
When I finally was able to test this out, he went to sleep for the night, I was pleased as the water tasted like strawberries. It wasn't over powered with flavor, but a definite hint of strawberry was present. I ended up drinking two full bottles of some strawberry water. I find myself enjoying and turning to infused water more than I would regular water, which is great for my entire physical health.
If I had to change something it would be to add a fill, to hear line so I don't end up with a spill on anything. Plus, I would love it to be dishwasher safe, as I believe that all things should be allowed to get cleaned in a dishwasher. Other than that, this works very well!
