Hot Dot Review

I fully believe in preparing our children.  It doesn't matter how smart you are, you just have to be willing to try.  I know that their will come a time when something the kids bring home or an area of study will come up that I will find myself lacking.  I will do what I do now and keep pushing and motivating them to learn and then I will find tools to help them understand the topic while help me to guide them.  I'm always looking for a great tool that anyone can use to help with my children education.

Mommy Moments with Abby's review of Hot Dots Let's Master sets:  We received two different lets master sets, one for Pre-K and the second for Kindergarten.  The topic of both is beginning math and logic skills.  The kids were very excited to check out this new "toy".  Learning should be fun, right?  So, when possible I introduce learning tools as "toys".
My daughter liked how the dog made noises and light up, but the vibrating scared her mainly because I think it tickled her hand and she didn't know what to make of that sensation.  My son thought they were just cool!
We opened up the books each kid taking a turn.  I read the question and they had to answer.  They quickly got excited to see the dogs eyes glow green.  I quickly saw that they didn't need me to know the material, just to be their and (because they aren't reading yet) read them the questions.  Their Hot Dot's lets them know if they are correct or not.  Now if only Hot Dots could go through their college years we would be all set!
I tested this out with some of the daycare kids with the same results.  Some where a little scared of the vibrating, but they all wanted to get it right and hear the congratulations!
We enjoyed this so much, we ordered some other Hot Dot's for the kids to use.  My daughter got some beginner reader cards and my son got the State Cards (he is totally obsessed with the United States).  The kids ask to do their Hot Dot's and we use it as a special treat if they do well during the day!  Thanks to Hot Dot's we now have learning something as a reward that they all ask and want to do!
My only issues were that their wasn't an off for the volume or the vibrating.  Some of the kids were scared when it vibrated in their hands and I had to hold it for them, so being able to turn the vibrating off would be a good option.  Also, sometimes when the babies are sleeping having the toy volume on can be an issue and it would be better to have a mute option where just the eyes light up.  Other than that I don't have any complaints!  Check it out for yourself and let me know your thoughts!
