French made easy Book Review
I received a book to help me with just this dilemma. Lightning-fast French, by Carolyn Woods is a book written by a mom who wanted to help her kids gain the tools they would need to succeed in life. She not only wrote this book but others on Spanish, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Make Money from Home with a Children's eBay Business. I myself have a husband who is learning another language and desire for my own children to be bi-lingual. I opened up this book and started to look at her learning concept and structure. It makes sense. When we are children we first learn words, simple by others speaking with us. Conversations are the basis for her learning structure using this book. I personally love how she offers to the reader to bounce around to the conversations that you have majority of in your life to start. This way you are providing the children with a maximum opportunity to pick up the language. She has done all the leg work to get started on language with your child or yourself making learning it even easier. I have watched my husband have to do the legwork himself and it is not fun and can be very distracting to your end goal. Having someone else offer up the starter legwork is a relief for a busy mom. I am slowly working on counting in french with myself and my 1 and 2 year old. I say it in English (one, two, three) and follow up with the french (un, duex, trois). Once they seem more comfortable with this and repeat it with more frequency I will move to colors. Since they are developing their English skills adding in a second language is not anything scary to them, its just part of how they need to communicate and so they retain more. I personally give this Cinq out of Cinq Stars as a beginner language learning tool and a mom tool!
