According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, 30% of American adults are afflicted by low back pain. That means if you know three people, one of them is probably in pain. Americans spend $200 billion a year treating back pain. I, personally, injured my back working in a hospital years ago and I have to constantly work out or look for other ways to keep my back healthy and with minimal pain. I have spent a lot of money on doctor visits and different creams/gels to help me with my discomfort. I try to alter my movements to be more back friendly. Having kids, however doesn't always allow for proper body mechanics. They tend to jump and wiggle in ways that aren't ergonomically correct.
Mommy Moments with Abby's review of QiPillow: So, when I first opened the package I noticed this pillow was mostly flat. Ummm, well not sure how this will give me support, but let's give it a try. So, I read the instruction. I unzipped the cover zipper. Noting the cover is removable and hand washable (good feature I can be accident prone). Then I unzipped the pillow. Inside is a small back round device. I twisted to open it and filled it to almost 3/4 full. Then I twisted it back shut and zipped shut the pillow then the case. I put it on the back of my seat and tried it out.
Too stiff and full for my size and the couch I'm sitting on. So, I unzipped the case and pillow and twisted the black device open letting some air escape. I let it out until the pillow was 1/2 full. Zipped everything shut and then put it on my seat. This was much better. The pillow didn't feel lumpy as the air smoothed out with the weight of my back. This allowed it to better fill the spaces my back creates between the chair back and itself without discomfort or arching.
It worked well to create support. It was comfortable enough that when I got up to answer the phone I came back to find it confiscated by my dog who was not using it as a pillow? So, like most things that mommy finds comfortable in this house, it isn't long before someone else claims it theirs.
