Howard B. Wigglebottom on Yes or No Book Review

Teaching books are probably one of my favorite things.  They offer children the opportunity to explore their imagination with a guided visual and verbal suggestions.  Throw in the message you are trying to teach them and you are helping those little brains expand, grow, and carve new pathways.  Who loves books and has two thumbs?  This MOM!
Mommy Moments with Abby's review of Howard B. Wigglebottom on Yes or No Book:  We are already fans of Howard B. Wigglebottom, so the kids were very excited to check out the latest book!  They all recognized this adorable little bunny and sat down to see what he was doing now!  I liked that this book not only included a message, but also helped their skills of observation by having him hidden on many of the pages.  After reading the story I would ask where that silly Howard was hiding.  They would shout out there he is pointing to his hiding spot.  It added a great interactive component to our story time.

The message of the book is figuring out when to say yes and when to say no.  I know a lot of adults that could use this book!  The story goes through different situations that a person would have to decide whether to say yes or no to someone.  It talks about the different things to watch for that will let you know when it is appropriate to say no to someone.  When I asked the kids which friend to trust the one doing his school work or the one picking his nose, I got an unexpected answer: "The one picking his nose!" shouted my daughter. Umm, ok, not sure where to go from here I asked her why she picked that kid.  "He is making sure he doesn't get others sick by picking out the germy boogers."  Good point, not the intention of the book, but the message still managed to get across, even if the interpretation is unusual.  You never know what you are going to get with kids, but you can know what you are exposing them to with books like this one.  We loved our latest Howard B. Wigglebottom book!
