May 20, 2012 Boyce Thompson Birds

On May 20, 2012 we went back up to Boyce Thompson in search of more birds and to get the kids on a nice hike.  We definitely weren't disappointed and the kids had a blast with the different sites, animals, and smells that Boyce Thompson provides.  Check out our bird sightings from this trip!  I apologize as it's a new camera and I'm still learning how to work it!

Anna's Hummingbird right next to the first feeder!

Goldfinch next to the first covered pond.

The Goldfinch was joined by more Goldfinches, unsure of what is flying to the right on the first photo.

We had gone looking for some owls we heard had been sited, but had no luck.  The Arboretum officials did, however advise the owls had been seen in the early dawn in a high cave on the cliff the mansion sits on that very morning!  It was a mother and her 2 babies that were seen!  Even though we couldn't get eyes on the owls, Boyce Thompson provided a ton of other birds for us and our kids to spy!  Another great hike and stroll with the family, we will definitely be going back again!
