NeeBooFit Resistance Loop Bands

I have been trying and failing at my New Years resolution to loose weight.  I have had a ton on my plate and little to no time to focus on working out.  But I have to push forward and make it happen for myself and my kids.  So, since weights aren't something one can toss in a purse or bag for those moments while the kids are at karate or dance class I needed to find a solution that would help make every move count.

2 Longest Lasting Super Bright Rim Lights - Personalized LED Colorful Wheel Lights Review

It is hot in AZ, but we haven't quite gotten the night light hours yet.  So, to keep things cool we go outside early in the day and then again late in the evening.  This way we still get the outside time and some Vit. D, but don't get burned in the process.  The problem is that the kids want to ride their bikes and I don't trust other people to slow down on a cul-de-sac.  For this reason we teach the kids to get on the side walk when ever they see a car at all, but I also want to make sure the cars see them. So, reflectors on the tires, and light colored bikes help, but why not add a little more?

Beginning Salsa Dance Volume 1

Spring means the closets aren't the only thing that need cleaning in my house.  It means getting ready for summer and cleaning out that dreaded box of bathing suites for the summer.  So, why not put a groove back in those suite by putting a spring in my step?

Youphoria Sport Towel

I'm trying to lose weight and have been a little bad lately. I missed some work out's for a teething baby, a few more for a busy and tired me due to work, and my leg treatments have me out for a day or two. That said, I've not given up! I'm still moving and trying to sweat my way back to the body I feel most comfortable in. That said, some days a little something to help contain that sweat would be helpful. Check out my latest fitness review!

Beginner's Dancing Set for Social Dancing

I don't know about you, but having a romantic moment with the husband is not an easy thing to do.  That is why we have to be creative and find ways to bring the romance to the house.  Babysitters costing around the same as a movie makes leaving the house not an option, let alone something more elaborate.  A relationship needs to be fed just like the kids do, so why not do something that you've always wanted to do, only at home?

First week of Fitness program is over! Shoot me now!

So, we are on day 9 of my push-up a day plus one New Year Resolution challenge that I've assigned myself.  For the past 3 days I have failed to get past 7.  It sucks, but was expected.  I knew my challenge was potentially unattainable, but that isn't going to stop me in trying to get their.  I may plateau at 7, but eventually that will lead to another climb in numbers.  So, while I'm behind the year isn't over, even if my arms are feeling like they may be over the push-up challenge.
I've also been doing the Bikini Body Mommy 90 day work out and have stayed committed to this weeks video's.  Some days I've literally taken the entire day to do a video, stopping between each exercise to do something with the kids.  Some days I have not even done the work out until 10 or 11pm, but even with the exhaustion and late hour I wouldn't let myself fail and miss a day.
My body is screaming at me.  My jiggles are developing jiggles, which is a good sign that its working and loosening that fat up!  I also had a huge set back in my numbers or "scores".  I realized about 2 days in that I was pushing my body to just do the motions and not to do them correctly.  I was dropping my chest in squats, hunching over between touching the floor, raising my bottom during plank or other exercises involving the plank position and worst of all I was abusing my yoga form during stretches.  Shifting weight to compensate or appear to have a deeper stretch, not listening to the order of stretches my body was asking for, and generally allowing it to cheat to get comfortable and not healthy were all abuse of the yoga form I once had.  So, I've done less reps, felt more discomfort (pain is bad, discomfort is normal for me), and altered the cool down to go chaturanga to cobra, or bhujangasana, back to down dog repeat, then put the childs pose where she does the downward dog later in the cool down sequence.  My body was feeling uneven and with the lack of proper form I was feeling it in my back so I listen and straightened myself up.  I still did all the moves and only changed the cool down sequence to match my needs using her poses.  So, I'm put up less scores, but I'm competing with myself and for me it's about getting back to healthy form, not having the highest score.
We have the weekend off, well as much as we can have it off with kids running about and the home remodel still going on, DIY unit!  I'm sure my body won't notice we have 2 days without the program and will make sure to scream at me each day, but I'm going to let it scream.  It isn't the healthy me's body that is screaming, its the bad habit out of shape me that is screaming, the fat on my body is screaming at my muscles freaking them out because the fat knows it's days are numbered and what my muscles don't yet know is that this is their big come back year!  So, I'm going to let it scream a little and I'm going to learn to love the sound of that scream as I find the fit me once again!
I hope your sticking to your plan for the year, adjusting where you see the need, and not letting yourself excuse away your goals.  Its not easy, this week has had a lot of crappy feelings come to surface and times where I just wanted to give up or slide back, but I've pushed through.  It won't be the last week that sucks, but it will lead me to more good weeks when it is over than I would have if I don't do this for myself.
PS. Something that I need to remind myself is that I need to eat more banana's, my body will probably scream less if I do!

Warrior 3 Pose/Virabhadrasana 3 Pose

This weeks’ yoga pose is Warrior 3/Virabhadrasana 3. When doing Warrior 3/Virabhadrasana 3 with kids remember to never push them past their abilities and be very careful with this pose as it’s easy to get hurt! Each week, 2-3 days, we do a 15 minute yoga work out in my home daycare. Kids from 1 1/2 to 4 do this and while each does as much as they are able and in a way they are capable of they all get a nice stretch, a scheduled work out time, and some fun new body movements. We do the sun salutations and then add a few jumps, hops, new yoga pose, and teacher assisted somersaults at the end.

Ozeri Precision Digital Bathroom Scale Review

So, I'm not big on weight, but every so often I do like to see how much I weight.  The size and fit of my pants is how I measure what shape I'm in since muscle can weigh more than fat the scale can be deceiving.  That said, it is still good to know how much you weigh for medical reasons and to see if your gaining muscle.

The Magic Path of Yoga Game Review

We love to do yoga at the daycare.  It is great for the mind and body.  Having it be in a game is a great way to make every yoga journey different and to test the mind.

Naturade Pea Protein Review

Protein is huge for brain growth and muscle growth.  I've been trying to eat better and to start lifting weights more.  Because my brain and my body need protein for functioning and growth I've been looking for a protein shake.  My husbands is too much for me, being as it's geared to his more intense power-lifting work out and harder on my stomach.

Zeta Universal Wrap

I've been using my husband's weights, well the bar to help me keep off the weight that food likes to place on my body.  I also, happen to have weak ankles and wrists, so this added stress on my joints can be painful.

Pure Fitness Protein Bar Review

There are some days when I just don't have time to do much. Eating definitely falls into that category, but if I'm going to keep up with 6 kids running a muck all day I have to eat something!  Problem is, what to grab that isn't crap!   Any suggestions?

Using Yoga to Battle Breast Cancer

Two decades ago, yoga felt like a fad in American society. After more and more have given it a shot, most have begun to recognize the tangible health benefits to doing yoga. Stretching, in general, can loosen the muscles and improve overall physical fitness, and yoga can also have significant psychological benefits.

Cat-Cows Pose or Marjariasana

Each week, 2-3 days, we do a 15 minute yoga work out in my home daycare. Kids from 1 1/2 to 5 do this and while each does as much as they are able and in a way they are capable of they all get a nice stretch, a scheduled work out time, and some fun new body movements. We do the sun salutations and then add a few jumps, hops, new yoga poseand teacher assisted somersaults at the end. In doing these poses always consult a doctor first, only attempt what is in your child’s ability level, and do what is comfortable for your and their body.  Today we worked on Cat-Cows Pose or Marjariasana.

These are only suggestions and like any exercise you and your children try them at your own risk, I am not there to show you and see what your body is saying so I can only offer these on a very basic level. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in, have a yoga mat to work on, and do not wear socks because of the risk of slipping!  Lastly, always remember to smile and never go past what your capable of and don't push a kid to go past what they are capable.

I suggest starting with other poses before doing this one, forward folds, warrior, and cobra are a few good postures to try before starting.  Make sure your kids are warmed up before doing this pose.  Start by having the kids stand with their feet slightly apart.  Have them reach up to the sky, pretending to gather the sun rays to keep for winter, now ride a breeze and dive down to your toes!  Bend your knees until your bottom hangs just off the ground, rib-bit and hop a few times like a frog. Now, with your hands flat on the ground put one knee back then the other to make a flat table top!  With out bending your arms or moving your legs try to touch your belly to the floor and give a moo like a cow!  Bring the air in and arch your back to the ceiling with a hiss like a cat!  Repeat again a few more time's before coming back to the table top!  Now straighten your legs and give a breath, step each foot to your hands and tickle your toes for a good laugh.  Now, reach up for a few more sun rays bringing you to a stand.  Exhale your hands down the middle slowly pushing the air out one last time. Then thank you for your practice because politeness is key and we should be thankful of the movement our bodies provide us!
Namaste!

Have you seen this fun game? It is perfect for those fall festivals you have coming up!  This game is a mix of some of your favorite games.  A mix of Bocce, Bowling, and on the ground darts makes for an interesting game and great way to get off the couch as a family!  I think that this would be a great way to have people play for a grand prize at a Fall Festival!  Works in a gym and in the grass for whatever weather you have on your Festival day!
