Under the Sea: The Octopus and Me!

School is in session and let the kiddie crafting begin!  To explore some of the fun places people go in the summer why not learn about some under the sea animals?!  What might you see if you lived under the sea?  What do you see at an aquarium?  What sea creature has the most legs that you've seen?  All are great questions to spark learning and crafting is a great way to back up those valuable lessons and explore problem solving with a dash of creativity!

 Fall is such a great time to make memories.  Football games, sweaters, hot cocoa, apple picking, pumpkins, falling leaves, the list of ways to make memories goes on and on.  So, what about those days when going outside to make a few fall memories isn't possible? Why not make some inside that you can bring out each year?  

Recycled Bones!

 

I am always looking for ways to keep the kids busy, maybe learn a little bit in the process, and making a holiday decoration is always a bonus.  So, what do you do when you have kids with busy fingers at home?  Raid the recycle bin and make a fun friend!

Trick or Treat bag!

 Each year we end up getting new Halloween buckets.  Last years end up lost, broken because they are cheap, or somehow as decorations for the house.  So, why not make your own that can be used year after year?

 Valentine's day is coming and if you are like me you are racking your brain for some fun toys/gifts/ and surprises to include in your holiday celebrations.  Some of the best gifts come from the heart and show the other person how much you care.  So, that is why I am a huge fan of gifts that are thoughtful and created by hand, like a candy bouquet.  You don't have to spend a lot to make this awesome gift either and the best part is you can personalize it!

 I love decorations!  I love the holidays and making a home look different than it normally does.  It creates a sense of fun and excitement that fuels smiles and laughter.  What I love more is decorations created from the heart that leave you with a great memory and story!  

Tree of Growth Autumn fun!

Kids grow up so fast!  Each season it seems like they have already changed so much that the moments I just had are already being replaced with new moments.  Trying to capture those moments can be hard, but with some kid powered imagination it can also be a lot of fun!

I love to make boxes into something else!  So, when I get a big box the hardest part isn't, where to put it or how to break it down, but what will this become?  Many times, I find myself turning to the most creative sources I know, the kids!  They look at a box and see possibility.  Usually a few idea's instantly come pouring out of their little brains.  Then, I just have to pick which one is the best fit for our box.

Window Cling fun!

It can be hard to decorate the windows for Halloween.  So many of the decorations are more adult in theme.  The Blood splatters, creepy creatures and such can be a little much for a little one.  So, let's make some window clings that are kid friendly and fun!

Gone Batty!

One of the funnest decorations to make is a bat!  There are so many ways you can create bats.  They work anywhere, hanging off the ceiling, paintings, just propped up on something, they are very versatile.

Sometimes, putting the pine-cones back on a tree is a great idea! I love getting the kids involved and making the home more colorful with something out of their own mind!  So, we went out and gathered some lonely fallen pine-cones to take home.  The kids loved rescuing the fallen pine-cones.

Why not start a new tradition of Thanks Cards?  You can have the kids make a card all their own of why they are thankful for each person attending your thanksgiving dinner to be read around the table!  Even better, you can make a great centerpeice with the kids to double as a card holder! How fun is the pictures during Halloween?!!  I love all the fun things we get to make, pretend, and explore during Halloween!  This is the time of year I hear the most “take a picture of me” coming from the kids.  The dress-up bins are always out and imaginations are flying freely.  So, to help the kids have a blast and increase the fun photo’s we decided to make masquerade masks for pictures!
