What is for dinner tonight?  Good question!  I feel like some days I spend a good chunk of time just wondering what is for dinner and I am the one cooking it!  It can be hard to come up with new recipes, ways to get the kids to eat something healthy, how to not dry out oven-baked chicken, and all the other barriers to the answer to that question!

Evergreen Watermelon Cutter

 I love summer, the clothes, Popsicles, and the summer time fruit.  Just something about some nice cool watermelon on a hot summer day to cool down and add to the memories.  Problem with watermelon is that it takes forever to cut up and I end up with a huge mess on my counter-top and very sticky hands. Time to find some summertime solutions.

I am already done grocery shopping for the upcoming holiday!  So proud of myself being all pro-active and ahead of the game this year.  That said I won't be cooking for a big group, just us, which makes it a little easier, but still done is done right?  So, now to gather the other things need to get things done.  If you didn't know we recently moved and if your moves are like mine, the moving gremlins tend to take off with items which are never again seen.  I don't know where they go, I just know they never seem to make the move from house to house.  So, time to bust out some new stuff!  It's times like these where I love being a blogger, helps with gremlin disappearance issues!

Miss Cakes is really getting into cooking.  We have even set aside a cubbard just for her to store her cooking supplies.  She loves to get new supplies and loves testing them out.  All I hear is about how she is a real baker and needs to make sure it is working so she can cook like a master chef!

 I enjoy having a glass of wine now and again.  While I tend to favor the reds, a lot of spring foods are better paired with a white wine.  I just don't have the time to take the bottle off the cabinet, chill it, decanter it, and then pour a glass.  I usually don't even decide to drink one until later in the day when I have a better idea at the type of evening I will have.  Will everyone go to bed on time, is the evening going to be a rush, or will I remember to have a glass at the end of it all?  So, what is a wine lover to do when they can't properly prep for a white wine?

I have always wanted a bread box!  I don't know why, but I love the idea of one sitting on top of a counter.  That said, I didn't really know how to use a bread box?  Do you just stick the bread you bought still in the bag inside, do you have to place anything else in the box, and other than looking interesting on a counter what is the purpose? I had to do a little research before I knew exactly what it is used for.

I love having a glass of wine now and again.  I don't really have the time or patience to wait for it to properly air out, I don't have a decanter, and I don't have a lot of space right now, remodeling and all.  So, I've been into wine tools to help me be more lazy and still get the most out of my wine.  I don't have a ton of money either so anything that helps a cheaper bottle of wine taste like a middle of the road to great bottle of wine is a major plus!

My daughter has been all about cooking and with that their is going to be a lot of clean up.  Having items that help with that are always welcome.  Anything that I can wipe up and be done without the scraping and scrubbing that the baking sheets is welcome when you have a future master chef.

We love to cook here, well my daughter loves to cook and I just enjoy it.  She asks to bake every day and we try to create opportunities for her to learn new skills or work on.  So, we made some yummy pizza with a garlic herb crust.  One thing that is super important with pizza is to have a good pizza slicer or you end up with slices that have three or four unsliced lines on them or the toppings fall all over when you try to tear a partially sliced piece off of the pizza and its a mess.

Springtime means time to dust off the old BBQ! One thing I know is that BBQ time means I can make dinner for a week in one sitting! Plus, there is a BBQ method I've always wanted to try, but haven't because I lacked the tools to make sure that everything was cooked properly!

I don't know about you but I have to have a morning pick me up  Especially with all the remodels we have been doing downstairs!  It honestly has a person looking for something that at least looks put together, even if everything else in life is a cluttered disaster!

So, Spring time flowers are beautiful, but spring time allergies are not!  So, what feels best in a chilly spring time evening when you have a allergy nose?  A big bowl of soup.  The kind that makes your tummy drool and your insides just relax.  It doesn't matter what kind it is, just that it gives you that feeling of ease and warmth deep down inside.

I hate it when something breaks that I don't usually shop for mainly because I tend to subsequently forget to grab one whenever I'm at the store!  Then I find myself eventually trolling the web to just order it online so I won't forget again.  It is a pain.  And you know the type of forgettable stuff I'm talking about because it is usually something that shouldn't be forgotten.  It's the stuff you bought when you first moved into the home you live in and won't buy again for years!  Anyone have this problem or is it just me?

 Since she was young we have called my daughter Miss Cakes.  She has now become a baking fanatic and is the resident Little Chef in this house.  We are exploring her interests with new recipes and as her skills and interest grows we add to her cooking tools.  She recently asked about exploring some desserts and while I do not have monster cooking chops, I have pulled up the Google and started to find recipe's for the kid's.  Naturally anything with sugar has my son jumping in on the fun!

Seriously, I drink less coffee now as a mom than I did when I was working.  This could be because the hours I'm working are kid driven, but still more normal than the one's I used to work at the hospital or even my post graduate jobs.  Course at the hospital and after I worked evenings and nights.  It wasn't until the last outside the house job that I worked days and then I picked up all the hours I could after that, so coffee was a lifeline.  Thank I became pregnant and had to give up the coffee ghost.  So, I started a new habit Tea.  Now that the kids are born and running about my habit has become a mix of tea and coffee.  No matter the habit I still need something to put it into!
